Hi Kris,
Sorry for the delay. I’ve been at the Adobe conference in LA and wireless has been sketchy.
The Virtual Audience is a down-loadable program that runs from your desktop (MAC or PC – but no iPhone yet). There is video.
In order for it to run, you need to download the free Adobe AIR player (adobe.com), then download and install the Virtual Audience.
It requires a webcam (that’s how the audience ’sees’ and ‘hears’ you).
Try this… standing so the web cam can’t see you, start the program and let it run for a few seconds. The audience talks amongst themselves while they wait for you to ‘take the stage’.
When you are ready, step in front of the webcam. The audience will see you and welcome you. When the applause stops, start performing (singing, playing an instrument, talking etc). Perform as long as you wish. When you are done. Stay quiet. They will give you a round of applause. Sometimes they like you and you might get an ovation. Sometimes they just give a polite clap. When they finish clapping, the program starts over.
One thing to note: The VA checks to see if an update is available when you run it (we are re-shooting in HD sometime this semester). If you don’t have wifi or an internet connection at that time, you might get an error code. Just close the error and continue on. If an update is available it will ask you if you wish to restart.
I demonstrated this to a lot of folks at Adobe Max on Sunday and again this morning. A lot of people had fun with it.
I don’t understand.
I click and it downloads an image?
Is there a video or is my iPhone messes up?
